Love Island winner shares unexpected connection to 2023 contestant farmer Will Young

This year's fresh batch ofLove Islandsingletons have arrived into theswanky new South African villa tonightto spend the winter finding love.

The first and only winter series of Love Island aired back in 2020, and sawPaige TurleyandFinley Tappwalk away with the cash prize. Three years on and the pair are still as loved-up as ever. As the pair now enjoy watching the latest bunch of Islanders enter the villa, one seems to be familiar to Finn already.

It appears that Finn and farmer Will Young attended the same football academy when they were younger. In an exclusive chat withMetro.co.uk , the 23-year-old revealed: “I had a pal of mine message me recently saying, “Oh do you remember Will from football.”

“And apparently he was at the academy when I was there, the year above me.”

Finn continued: “I mean, I’m talking, he was in under 10s and I was like nine, so I couldn’t really remember but my pal messaged me saying that he remembers him.”

Thanks to this surprising connection, Finn admitted he’s now “rooting” for the TikTok star, with Paige adding: “I like Will as well.”

She continued: “I’ve seen his TikTok videos that I clicked on after, I didn’t know, I’m not much of a TikTok girl.”

Will boasts an impressive 1.1 million followers on TikTok, where he often posts videos about farming. Will’s TikTok fame has seen him meet the likes ofThe Traitors' Claudia Winkleman , who took part in aviral challenge and poured water on him .

"She was lovely and got stuck in. She poured water over me," he revealed.

Speaking openly about his love life, Will admitted that farm life is not for everyone and can be difficult to juggle while dating.

He explained: "Having grown up on a farm, it's been quite difficult juggling relationships and work.

"Love Island will give me time away from the farm to solely go out and find love. I think I'm at that time of my life where I'm mature enough to go and find a wife."

He added: "My mum didn't step on the farm for the first 20 years of my mum and dad's marriage! What attracts me is energy, if the energy is there, she can do whatever she wants.

"As long as she respects what I do and my busy times of the year, then that's all I need. If she loves it, bonus! But it's not a big issue for me."

The winter series, which kicked off last night, is being filmed in Cape Town, South Africa and according to the latest reports, has impressive views of Table Mountainand is worth in excess of £5million. This year's islanders can enjoy an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a rugby pitch, a zip line, a 400m running track and a private lake.
