Dancing to the aisle! Romantic moment man proposes to his girlfriend with a flash mob who performed to a medley of her favourite songs before dragging him up to pop the question

  • Dancers pretended to ask Craig to film their performance in Brighton
  • After medley of Natalie’s favourite songs, he proposed and she said yes

This is the romantic moment a man proposed to his girlfriend of nine years with a flash mob dance.

Craig Calvert, 33, popped the question to Natalie Hunt, 32, on the Brighton seafront with the help of a group of dancers who performed to a medley of her favourite songs.

Students from the Apollo Theatre Arts School pretended to be putting on an impromptu performance for Craig and asked him to film, when in reality they were gearing up to him getting down on one knee.

The elaborate proposal came as a complete surprise to Natalie, who burst into tears before saying ‘yes’.

A video of the proposal starts with the couple being approached by one of the young dancers.

As a medley of Natalie’s favourite songs plays, more and more dancers join in, peeling away from the crowd where they had been posing as bystanders.

Towards the end of the routine, the dancers pull on Craig’s hand and ask him to dance with them.

The flash mob began after Craig and Natalie arrived at the Upside Down House in Brighton and one of the members of the dance troupe asked them to film the crew, pictured

Craig said he thought Natalie may have worked out what was happening as the music and dancing, pictured, was to some of her favourite songs but she was clueless until the last minute

Natalie was still unaware of what was going on, thinking her boyfriend was getting into the spirit of things.

It wasn’t until he walked back through the row of dancers and got down on one knee that she realised.

Moments before the proposal, Natalie had been taking a nap and had finished a pot of spicy prawns.

‘Just before we got to the square, in true Natalie style, she decided to buy a pot of spicy prawns on the seafront which I made sure she had eaten beforehand.

‘As funny as I would have found it, she wouldn’t have forgiven me if she had a pot of prawns in her hand when I popped the question.’

An ecstatic Natalie embraced Craig after the proposal, as crowds of people watched on following the joyous moment

The proposal went without a hitch, with Natalie completely unaware of what was to come.

He said: ‘I did think she would have clocked what was going on from the music being some of her favourite tracks, or the fact that I was running off to spontaneously dance with strangers.

‘I love that she was completely clueless until the last minute. In hindsight, it would have probably been kinder if I had made sure she had had a couple of wines before giving her the shock of her life!’

Owner of Apollo Theatre Arts School Katy Markey had organised the dance with Craig and choreographed the dance with Natalie’s favourite hits.

Craig said: ‘I got in touch with Katy who runs Apollo Theatre Arts via Instagram and she was just brilliant.

‘I picked the songs and she made them into a medley, choreographed the dance and told me where to be! I got lucky contacting her.
