Single mum-of-5 told she’s ‘selfish’ for using sperm donor hits back at trolls

A single mum-of-five revealed how one of her babies came from a sperm donor – but found herself cruelly trolled for being "selfish".

Brooke Withington, from Australia, posted about her big family while raising five beautiful children – aged between four months old and eight years old.

Out of her five kids, two-year-old Nora is a sperm donor baby.

She explained about artificial insemination at home using a sperm donor on TikTok and the video went viral, attracting some hateful comments.

One, which she addressed, said: "You shouldn't use a sperm donor to conceive a child, that's selfish."

Another said it's a "shame" as her decision could be costly and claimed taxpayers paid for it.

The 28-year-old mentioned that it's illegal to pay someone for their sperm in Australia, so she found out a Facebook group called Sperm Donation Australia where people are doing it "out of the goodness of their hearts".

She said in a TikTok post: "There is a few different options you can do – the first one is natural insemination, which is just having sex with them. That's each to their own, completely up to you.

"The second one which is what I did was artificial insemination, where they give it to you in a specimen jar and you push it up through a syringe and then insert it yourself.

"You can also choose to do this in a clinic or you can choose to do this IVF as well.

"A lof of the donors have also already done their STI or STD test and they can provide you with those results.

"If they haven't done them, you can pay for them to go and get one done for your own peace of mind."

Feeling content on her own, Brooke raises her five children on her income after struggling to settle with her then-partner.

She said: "I just don't feel the need to be with anyone and I have all my kids, 100% just me."

The single mum doesn't need to worry about splitting weekends or having two sets of rules in the house.

Some viewers agreed with Brooke and said they have also decided to raise the child 100% on their own.

One commented: "I'm also a solo mum by choice with two donor kids, some people just find it hard to believe we're happy without a man."

"I love this so much! I'm the same and it's so peaceful just being alone," a second shared.
