Black Widow might not have taken the box office by storm like Spider-Man: No Way Home, but that did not stop Tom Holland and Florence Pugh from discussing a Peter Parker and Yelena Belova crossover. After stealing the show with Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, fans want more Yelena in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And the actors themselves definitely approve.
Tom Holland and Florence Pugh have ‘definitely spoken’ about ‘Black Widow’ Yelena and Spider-Man crossing over
Marvel has more than a few heroes operating in New York. In the past few MCU titles alone, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop took on Kingpin in Hawkeye, Black Widow Yelena showed up in New York to fight Jeremy Renner’s Avenger, and Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire‘s Peter Parker fought to save the Multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
With all these heroes in such close quarters, fans wanted a crossover. And so did the hero actors themselves.
During an appearance on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, the host asked some ‘quickfire questions’ to the Marvel star, including if he would want Yelena and Spider-Man to team-up.
“It hasn’t been suggested to the big bosses yet, but Florence and I have definitely spoken about it,” Tom Holland confirmed. “And hopefully, one day, we can make that happen. That would be very cool.”
Could Florence Pugh’s Black Widow Yelena and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man team-up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Holland’s hero told Doctor Strange to erase everyone’s knowledge of Peter Parker. It sent Willem Dafoe‘s Green Goblin, Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, and Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men home.
However, since Spider-Man never met Yelena or Natasha Romanov, there’s no way Florence Pugh’s Black Widow could know Spider-Man’s identity. The spell would not have affected her.
This might make things easier if it’s both their first time meeting. In the heartbreaking scene at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter decided not to reconnect with Zendaya’s MJ.
While trying to reconnect with someone you know everything about while they remember could prove strange, Tom Holland’s Peter seems ready to meet new heroes, like Florence Pugh’s Yelena.
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Hawkeye’ had the two heroes both near Rockefeller Center at the same time
Unfortunately for fans who want to see the charming Yelena crossover with Spider-Man, Marvel already missed an opportunity. In the final scenes of Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker and Yelena were both near Rockefeller Center.
Many fans online expected an Easter egg at least, since the explosive action happened right outside of Peter Parker’s apartment. And the episode dropped a few days after Tom Holland first said he wanted to team up with Florence Pugh.
“I wanna work with Florence Pugh, I think she’s amazing, so good in [Black Widow], and all the movies that she’s done,” InsideTheMagic reported Holland saying. “I think she’s fantastic, so I think a really cool Spider-Man-Black Widow movie would be a fun little twist!”
For now, fans have to wait a while before Tom Holland’s Spider-Man tames up with someone other than Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man heroes.
