A woman has stunned social media users after revealing a shopping hack that makes reaching items on supermarket shelves much easier.
Posting on the Family Lowdown Tips & Ideas Facebook group, Lorrie Aston, from Essex, explained how shelves have a cleverly placed device on them which can be used to bring items forward.
The 36-year-old joked about having reached her age without working out that shelves have this convenient lever.
Her post quickly gathered hundreds of comments, with many people admitting they were unaware of the hack.

Posting on Facebook, Lorie joked about reaching the age of 36 without being aware of the hack. She said she will no longer be ‘scaling the shelves to reach the top’
Lorie shared a clip of her attempt at using the device in her local Tesco supermarket to reach bottled drinks.
Impressed with her discovery, she wrote: ‘PSA – I can’t be the only person to have reached 36 and didn’t know about this hack of pulling bottles forward?!?
‘No more scaling the shelves to reach the top.’
Almost 8,000 people liked the post, with one gushing: ‘Omg this is a game changer for me! I’m in my 40s I didn’t know, I can’t believe how many times I’ve had to reach back and worried I’d break a few.’
Another said: ‘What is this sorcery you are showing us! Well no more nearly dislocating an arm trying to reach stuff that look out of reach.’
A third added: ‘OMG wish I’d have known this the other day, literally standing on the shelves hanging on for dear life grabbing a bottle of wine for my partner lol.’
‘NO WAY. I usually have to wait until the aisle is clear before doing a running jump and grab (x7) before inevitable giving up and going on with my day hating on my parents for creating a vertically challenged failure,’ a fourth wrote.

However, some social media users claimed they’ve been aware of the hack for some time, because supermarket employees showed them after they asked for help.
One commented: ‘I’ve known this for years… bloody brilliant idea. Saves people stretching up or climbing up to get the ones from the back. My partner didn’t know this and was shocked when I did it in Tesco and asked me how did I know.’
Another said: ‘A chap showed me this in Aldi, it’s a game changer, safer too. I regularly climb shelves when I don’t have a tall friend with me.’
