Taylor Swift announced Friday that she “cannot reschedule the shows that we’ve postponed” of her two-city “Lover Fest” tour, announced in September 2019.
“I love coming on here to tell you good news, or to share a new project with you,” Swift’s statement, shared to Twitter, began. “It’s not my favorite thing in the world to have to tell you news I’m sad about. I’m so sorry, but I cannot reschedule the shows that we’ve postponed. Although refunds have been available since we first postponed the Lover Fest shows, many of you hung onto your tickets and I too hung onto the idea that we could reschedule.”
“This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” the statement continued. “I’m so disappointed that I won’t be able to see you in person as soon as I wanted to. I miss you terribly and can’t wait til we can all safely be at shows together again.”
Swift, 31, canceled her 2020 tour dates in April 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, initially announcing that the dates would be rescheduled for 2021.
Despite not being able to tour, Swift has kept busy with a raft of new albums released during COVID-times. First, there was the one-two punch of the companion records “Folklore” and “Evermore.” She’s also been re-recording her early albums to eventually re-release them, a move designed to free her early work from the clutches of mega-manager Scooter Braun, who scooped up the rights to Swift’s old masters in a decision the singer has repeatedly blasted.
She’s also escalating a court battle with a theme park, so it’s a bit of a mixed bag.
