You could be annoying supermarket workers without even realising.
Many of us enjoy making casual chit-chat with the cashiers – but apparently, there are particular jokes that wind them up.
Tesco employee Holly Dixon took to TikTok her page, @hollydixon2112, to criticise customers who use the same cringe-worthy phrases at least "10 times a shift".
She admitted she’s lost count of shoppers who joke they’ve “only come in for one thing”, only to leave with “the whole shop” in their trolley.
The supermarket assistant is also not impressed by those who say: “Oh, it’s not scanning? It must be free!”
Her curt response to this cheeky remark is: “absolutely not”.
Another joke Holly hates involves customers who insist she “looks bored”.
They laugh that they’re going to “give her something to do” by picking her till to scan their items through.
While this can seem harmless enough, the Tesco worker said it typically happens towards the end of her shift.
She explained: "I was happy chilling and counting down the minutes until I finish."
Many supermarket employees could relate to Holly’s brutally honest video.
One commenter said: "I get asked if I'm worried about losing my job if they use the self-service till."
Another fed-up shop assistant remarked: "Or they ask for a lottery ticket and then go 'the winning one would be good' when you ask what one they want."
And a third added: “Hahaha why do I relate to this so much. Or it’s people moaning about bags being 20p.”
Despite tiring of some customers’ jokes, Holly insists she “loves (her) job”.
