The Gatsby’s New Retreat: Leonardo DiCaprio Buys A Waterfront Malibu Home For $13.8 Million

Leonardo DiCaprio is the owner of a new $13.8 million Malibu property, as the actor reportedly recently sealed the deal on the waterfront property.

The estate features a 3,200 square feet mansion with four bedroom and five bathrooms. It’s situated in a gated community on the coastline with an impressive view of the water. According to Observer, the property hadn’t even been publicly listed for sale before Leonardo scooped it up.

Now that he has a new property at his disposal, the actor is looking to part ways with one of his long-time estates, his Carbon Beach getaway. Also located in Malibu, Leonardo purchased the home in 1998, only a year following the release of Titanic for $1.6 million.

The home is 1,765 square feet and features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was originally built in 1950, but has been updated to include stainless steel appliances, grey cabinets, and marble countertop.

The waterfront property also has direct, exclusive access to Carbon Beach in addition to an impressive outdoor entertainment area.

Leonardo originally put the estate up for sale September 2016 for $10.95 million. When it didn’t sell, he ended up taking it off the market a year later. He’s rented the estate various times throughout the year for anywhere between $18,500 to $25,000 per month.

But reports say the actor is looking to get rid of the Carbon Beach property once and for all. He’s reportedly listed it again and is hoping to score at least $10 million from the sale.

If one thing is for sure, it’s that Leonardo loves Malibu properties. Yahoo! News reports that he technically owns three properties in the area. In addition to his newest purchase and the Carbon Beach getaway he’s attempting to sell, Leonardo also owns a third property in Paradise Cove that he bought for a cool $23 million in 2017.

But if three Malibu properties weren’t enough, Leonardo also owns a variety of other homes throughout the United States. Observer notes that he has two homes in LA’s Los Feliz, two homes in Hollywood Hills, an apartment in New York City, and a desert getaway in Palm Springs.

However, it appears the actor is attempting to narrow down his real estate portfolio even further, as it’s not only the Carbon Beach home that’s on the market. In August, Leonardo listed one of his Los Feliz home for $5.75 million. The estate, known as Red Oak Manor, is 4,644 square feet long. He originally purchased the property in April 2018 from Moby for $4.91 million.
