A woman made a terrifying discovery inside a purse after a night out and is now urging everyone to check their handbags.
Sheridan Ellis’s video on TikTok has already been seen more than 700,000 times since it was posted last week.
In it, the artist from Texas, US, explains that she had recently gone out for dinner with her friends but later found something rather disturbing inside her handbag.
“At the end of the night I’m cleaning my purse out and I find this,” she says, lifting up a small white object.
“If you don’t know what this is, it’s a tile. It’s basically a tracker which people put on their keys and whatnot.
“It’s not mine, I don’t know how it got in my purse.
“I immediately took the battery out, don’t worry, but check your purses and stay safe out there.”
She adds that it did not belong to any of her friends either and the chilling find has understandably left thousands of viewers horrified.
“The police can definitely find out who purchased that and who downloaded the app registered to it,” one said. “Go to the police. That’s very scary.”
Another added: “Oh yay, a new thing for all us women to worry about.”
“Omg, I have pre-teen girls, thanks for putting this out there,” a third commented. “But seriously, how many more things do we have to be aware of?”
Others claimed the device worked via bluetooth and only did its job when it was within 200 meters of the owner.
Like what you see? Then fill your boots…

Such was the fear among viewers, Sheridan changed her TikTok bio to give fans an update.
“I’m okay, thanks for the concern,” she said. “Found the tile before I got home.”
A similar device, named Tile Mate, has a “60m finding range” according to its Amazon description.
Even when outside of the Bluetooth range, owners can apparently view the device’s most recent location.
