Afghanistan star Hazratullah Zazai scores fastest T20 50 in history in just 12 balls and smashes six sixes in an over

AFGHANISTAN star Hazratullah Zazai struck six sixes in an over en route to smashing the quickest half-century in Twenty20 history last night.

The 20-year-old prospect bludgeoned 37 runs off a single Abdullah Mazari over – thanks to an additional wide – in a truly remarkable knock.

Zazai becomes only the sixth player to ever smash an over full of maximums – joining greats such as Sir Garfield Sobers, Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh.

The top-order star brought up his 50 in a world-record 12 balls – level with Yuvraj Singh – in becoming only the third star to smash six sixes in a Twenty20 match.

Despite the youngster's incredible effort, his Kabul Zwanan side fell short of a Chris Gayle-led Balk Legends team.

Kabul were chasing a monster 245 to win and had flown to 70/0 after four overs thanks to opener Zazai's impressive display of hitting.

The six sixes in an over club

Sir Garfield Sobers – 1968

Ravi Shastri – 1985

Herschelle Gibbs – 2007

Yuvraj Singh – 2007

Ross Whiteley – 2017

Hazratullah Zazai – 2018

Zazai ultimately departed early – and the loss of his wicket meant Kabul were always destined to fall short.

The 20-year-old star smashed four fours and seven sixes en route to a 17-ball 62.

On his feat, he said: "It is a very enjoyable moment for me that my name is now linked to so many big names of the game, who are really legends of the game.

"It was a surreal moment for me to perform in front of my idol (Gayle).
