Arsenal boss Arteta 'gave glowing reference of Aubameyang' to Xavi ahead of Barcelona transfer despite huge fallout

WHILE he may not have been a good captain Mikel Arteta believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a good person.

After a huge bust up with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, Aubameyang was stripped of the captaincy and banished to the bench, but it seems as though Arteta isn't holding a grudge.

Despite reports of the pair no longer seeing eye to eye, Arteta spoke glowingly to his Spanish counterpart Xavi before the Gabonese forward's departure from the Emirates.

He reportedly passed on a message, via a third party, that Abumeyang is a good person despite their differences.

According to the Mail Online Aubameyang also received a positive reference from Guim Laporta, the son of Barcelona's president who knew him from a football development project in Gabon.

The  former Arsenal captain scored twice in a 4-0 win at the Bernabeu last night, moving Barca within 12 points of the LaLiga leaders, as he continued his resurgence.

Aubameyang now has nine goals for his new side, less than two months after Mikel Arteta booted him out of the Emirates on a free transfer.

Back in December Arsenal lifted the ban on players travelling abroad under special circumstances so that the Aubameyang could visit his sick mother in France.

The club instructed Aubameyang to arrive back the same day but he returned the following morning ahead of training.

Subsequent to this incident he never featured in the matchday squad again, declaring he wasn't 'happy' with Arteta.

Since his arrival at the Nou Camp, Aubumeyang has been back to his very best.

Despite a turbulent start to the season Aubameyang seems to have found his feet in the Barcelona front line.
