Anne Hegerty’s Beat the Chasers replacement unveiled for new series of ITV show

The Chase star Anne Hegerty, also known by her alter ego 'The Governess', is set to be replaced by a brand new brainiac on the upcoming series of Beat The Chasers, which is set to air on ITV in the coming weeks.

It was announced last week that the quizzing queen, 63 – who has been one of the longest standing Chasers on the show since joining back in 2010 – was forced to pull out of the show due to illness.

Now, Aussie Chaser Issa Shultz, otherwise known as 'The Supernerd' is set to take the reins from Anne, who sadly tested positive for Coronavirus and wasn't able to film.

Anne took to social media last week to inform her disappointed fans about her absence, writing: "Unfortunately I’ve contracted Covid-19 so won’t be filming this series of #BeatTheChasers.

"The fantastic @Issa25 will be stepping in for me and I’m looking forward to watching the series when it’s on air later this year."

The former I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! star added: "I feel fine, but I'm still positive! (in all respects)."

Eight-time winner of the Australian Quizzing Championships, Issa, 38, who has appeared as menacing chaser on 'Down Under's' version of the show since it first commenced in 2015, has never before starred on the UK series.

Though he may be a newbie, it is understood that the quiz guru will be tough competition for the brave contestants, as he's also competed on The Rich List as well as Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?

However, fans of the popular 5pm quiz show have expressed their sadness that their favourite Chaser Anne won't be appearing on the forthcoming series.

"Oh, I hope you are back to full health soon Anne," one wrote, whilst another wished her a "speedy recovery".

One sorrowful viewer also commented that they'll "probably give it a miss" if The Governess herself wouldn't be part of the show.

However, Anne responded by telling them that they "absolutely should", as there would still be "six superb chasers".

Speaking about her bow-tie wearing replacement, the former I'm A Celeb star revealed: "Issa is an actual Chaser and has already recorded BTC in Australia, so he knows what he's doing."

Issa was previously known to both Anne and Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, who work alongside him on The Chase Australia.
