Best bets, free football tips, and acca predictions for Newcastle vs Man Utd and Saturday's action | The Sun

SUNSPORT tipster James Anderson takes a closer look at this weekend's sporting action, bringing you his best bets, top tips and a special 5/1 accumulator.

This weekend's betting bonanza includes selections from Newcastle vs Manchester United at St James' Park, the Premier League and the best of the action from the Championship and FA Cup.

Newcastle vs Manchester United betting tips

Newcastle and Manchester United turn their attentions back to the Premier League after fairly disappointing European exploits.

The Magpies should have registered an historic 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain, only to be undone by a controversial stoppage-time penalty.

United, meanwhile, twice squandered a two-goal advantage against Galatasaray to leave their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

Saying that, both enjoyed comprehensive wins in their last league outings with Newcastle thumping Chelsea and United hitting three unanswered goals past Everton.

The pair have already met this season with Newcastle securing a comprehensive 3-0 win in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford, despite making several changes to their starting XI.

And we think it could be a similar story this weekend with Newcastle showing incredible power on home turf. The Toon have won eight of their 10 games at St James' Park – scoring a whopping 23 goals.

United's draw in Istanbul paired with Newcastle's scintillating home form and unjust decision earlier this week should make for a comfortable home win.

Alexander Isak also looks a solid shout for first goalscorer having netted the opener in his last two matches to take his tally to nine goals in 14 appearances in all competitions.

The ACCA

This seem to have clicked for Russell Martin at Southampton after a disastrous spell in September. Saints are now unbeaten in 10, winning seven of those and managing three clean sheets.

The South Coast side have moved into fourth position in the Championship, and will have their sights on reeling in leaders Leicester and Ipswich.

Southampton are top of the form table with 13 points from a possible 15 over the last five league games, with centre-froward Adam Armstrong now the league's second top goalscorer.

As for Cardiff, they've flipped between sublime and ridiculous. The Bluebirds sandwiched a dramatic late win over Preston with defeats to West Brom and Norwich.

Streaky Blackburn are back in business. They've won three of their last four matches, and aren't struggling for goals having scored 11 in those contests.

Only three sides have taken more points on the road this season, and nobody has registered more goals away from home. The same cannot be said for hosts Sheffield Wednesday, who've taken just six points in nine home matches. They've also only scored five goals at Hillsborough.

Stevenage complete our treble in their FA Cup clash against Port Vale.

The two League One sides meet at Lamex Stadium on Saturday afternoon in completely contrasting form. Stevenage are top of the form table, taking 13 points from their last five matches.

Vale, meanwhile, have mustered just a single draw and four defeats in their last five – notching up just three goals and conceding seven.

The Banker

Jeremy Doku is electric. And his value is on the rise. Manchester City were trailing 2-0 before his introduction sparked a turnaround earlier this week.

The summer recruit has has already notched up three goals and six assists in 16 matches for the champions, and he should profit again against an attack-minded outfit.

He's managed 18 efforts on goal in 652 minutes of league action, meaning he's average a shot every 36 minutes. He's also created a whopping 19 chances for his colleagues.

  • Our tip: Jeremy Doku to score or assist at 10/11 with Paddy Power – CLAIM HERE

The Longshot

I actually don't think this is overly ludicrous at all. We're backing both Arsenal and Manchester City to score 4+ goals each this weekend. Combined that creates odds of 15/1 with Paddy Power.

Manchester City should feast against Tottenham on Sunday. Spurs are without 12 first-team players and have lost their last three on the bounce – conceding eight goals along the way.

They are also haemorrhaging chances having conceded 62 efforts at goal and 19 on target over the last four league outings.

Arsenal, meanwhile, arrive having fired six past Lens and looked terrific in the opening 45 minutes.

Of course, goals haven't been their specialty this season but that comprehensive Champions League win paired with vital absences for Wolves could see the Gunners fill their boots.

Gary O'Neil is already without left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pedro Neto, while midfielders Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina both picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season against Fulham.
