BRUNO FERNANDES has attempted to end speculation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo's future by claiming the Portuguese is set to stay.
The Manchester United star, 27, revealed he last spoke to Ronaldo several weeks ago but expects his team-mate to stay.
Fernandes believes CR7 will turn up to pre-season training next Monday, suggesting the club will not want to lose such a valuable player.
Ronaldo has been linked with a transfer after United failed to qualify for the Champions League.
But Fernandes played down the rumours, telling Portuguese newspaper Record: "I spoke to him a few weeks ago – we're both on vacation, no one bothers friends on vacation.
"I hope to meet him on [July 4] to train there [at Manchester United], I'm not expecting more than that.

“There is nothing more than that, but each one takes care of their future. I don't believe that the club is willing to lose a player of the value of Cristiano."
United have told Ronaldo he will not be sold this summer but that has not prevented clubs showing an interest in the striker.
And Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly held talks with clubs over a move amid links to Sporting Lisbon and Chelsea.
Sporting director Hugo Viana refused to rule out a move for Ronaldo – stating a transfer could be possible if it is what the superstar wants.
