Andy Murray set for surprise career change

Andy Murray has admitted that he would be open to a surprise career change after his Wimbeldon exit.

After struggling with injury in recent years, Murray has admitted he's began to think of life away from the game.

He has said that he is considering moving into coaching when he retires but "not necessarily in tennis".

He told British Airways High Life magazine: "It's only in the last 18 months or so that I've started to think about my future after tennis.

"I’ve heard stories from ex-players and other athletes who've made no plans for retiring, and they finish and all of a sudden, it's, 'What am I going to do with myself?'

"I was chatting to them about things that I might want to get involved in or really don't want to get involved in, just starting to get a few ideas together.

"I’m looking for something I'm really passionate about and that I want to work really hard at to achieve a specific goal.

"One area that ticks that box is coaching, but not necessarily in tennis. I'll definitely want to keep busy."

Wimbledon’s ‘appalling’ AI commentary is ‘killing humanity’ says tennis presenter

Tennis presenter Annabel Croft took a swipe at Wimbledon’s new Artificial Intelligence commentary yesterday — branding it “appalling”.

The tournament is using AI for the first time to voice highlights from outside courts where no commentator is present.

Former Brit tennis pro Annabel, 57 — who is covering the event for BBC TV — called the new tech “an insult to my profession” and warned it will “kill humanity”.

She was played a clip of the Wimbledon AI commentary on Radio 4’s Today and said: “It’s a race against the robot for your job.

“Listening to that, it was very stiff, it was emotionless, no feelings at all.

"Whoever is taking the decision to put a robot on to commentary, and of course into the wider context of all jobs in life, this is going to kill humanity.

“I mean, what is going on?”

The highlights videos are available on the Wimbledon app and website and are separate to the BBC’s coverage.

Jabuer unhappy at Sabalenka's quick win

Ons Jabeur set up a semi-final with Aryna Sabalenka and admitted she was unhappy the American triumphed so rapidly.

The Tunisian overcame her 2022 final conqueror Elena Rybakina 6-7 6-4 6-1 – while Sabalenka beat Madison Keys 6-2 6-4 far more comfortably.

Jabeur said: "I saw she won very quick which I wasn't happy with.

"She is an amazing player. She hits very fast like Elena so it will be very challenging.

"It will be a difficult match but I will keep this spirit on the court and hopefully the crowd will be with me."

Ons wants to swap revenge win for 2022 final

Ons Jabeur avenged last year's final defeat against Elena Rybakina – but wished she could swap the two matches!

Sixth seed Jabeur won6-7 (5-7) 6-4 6-1 – dominating once she broke serve in the final game of the second set.

In Thursday's semi-finals, the Tunisian now faces Belarusian second seed Sabalenka Aryna Sabalenk, who overpowered Madison Keys.

Jabeur was way more aggressive than during her showpiece loss last July'.

And she explained: "I said I am going for my shots because if you try to go easy with her it is not going to work.

"It is not easy playing her but I wish we could exchange this match for the finals last year."

'Inspired' Svitolina moves Evert to tears

Wimbledon legend Chris Evert fought back tears as she saluted Elina Svitolina for "one of the most touching matches ever" on Centre Court.

The commentator praised the Ukrainian's "inspired" run to the semi-finals during her "very sad time" following Russia's invasion of her home country.

Svitolina toppled world No1  Iga Swiatek on Tuesday, just three months after returning to the circuit after having a baby last October.

And 18-time Major winner Evert, 68, was in an awed yet solemn mood as she assessed the 28-year-old's shock win.

Speaking on ESPN, the American said: "I think this was one of the most touching matches I've ever seen on Centre Court, just with everything Elina has gone through.

"She's very inspired and she had a baby and her husband was so supportive of her.

"But she's been going through a very sad time with what's happening back in Ukraine with her family.

"And to see her being so inspired by this and playing so well it's just very touching."

    Unstoppable Alcaraz

That first set really had many fans thinking we could be in for an absolute epic.

Those two just could not be separated in the first set.

You wonder how much that surge from Alcaraz to fly from 3-3 to 7-3 in the first set tie break affected both players.

From there, Alcaraz really stepped it up and Rune didn't seem to have an answer for it.

As it is, the top seed is through to the semi-finals, where he'll face Daniil Medvedev – with the No3 seed needing five sets to battle past American ace Christopher Eubanks.

Novak Djokovic faces Jannik Sinner in the other semi.

The Alcaraz vs Djokovic match – the clash of the top two seeds – every fan wants to see is still very much on.

    Alcaraz 7-6 6-4 6-4 Rune

    Game, set and match, Alcaraz!

The top seed is through to the semis.

The Spaniard was pushed hard in the early stages of this match, but kicked on after that first set tie break.

Rune just didn't have an answer for the world No1's play on this day.

In the end, Alcaraz blows Rune away by charging to 40-0 up to earn another three match points.

And while Rune saves the first two of those, he can't keep out the No1 seed – as the Dane tamely loops a forehand long off an Alcaraz second serve.

What a day of action it's been on Centre Court. Five hours of stupendously good tennis.

    Alcaraz* 7-6 6-4 5-4 Rune

Rune saves a match point en route to a gritty hold.

Alcaraz is now serving for the match and a place in the semis.

    Alcaraz* 7-6 6-4 4-3 Rune

    Good hold for Rune, there.

Another break and it really was curtains.

The Dane is starting to look a little tired, though.

Even if he forces a fourth set, you fear he may not have the energy to do Alcaraz enough damage.
