Cheltenham Festival 2021 is here, the greatest show on earth, with plenty of intrigue surrounding tried and tested superstars and hotly-tipped breakouts, but this year will be unlike any before.
The meeting at the iconic race course begins in unusual circumstances with no crowds for the first time in its history.
The Prestbury Park track would usually be rammed by lunchtime on Tuesday for this signature mid-March showpiece, with racing enthusiasts descending from Ireland, Britain and around the world – but coronavirus restrictions has limited those in attendance to participants and essential personnel.
That will mean the famous roar will be absent this year, not to mention the joyous moments inside the winner’s enclosure. But the racing goes on – here’s everything you need to know about day one:
