Cristiano Ronaldo SCORES last minute penalty to save 2-2 draw for Al-Nassr as he bags first goal for new club | The Sun

CRISTIANO RONALDO rescued a point for Al-Nassr before all hell broke loose against Al Fateh.

The Portuguese superstar finally got off the mark for the Saudi club after his last-gasp penalty earned them a 2-2 away draw.

Ronaldo made the £173MILLION-a-year move to the Middle East to become the highest-paid sportsman EVER after he was released by Manchester United in December.

But the 37-year five-time Ballon d’Or winner has endured a testing start for his new club.

He did score twice in a friendly against Lionel Messi's PSG last month, but he had still been waiting for his first official Al-Nassr goal.

And after failing to net on his debut, Ronaldo then drew a blank four days later as Al-Nassr crashed out of Saudi Super Cup in the semi-finals to Nuno Espirito Santo's Al-Ittihad.

But Ronaldo took full advantage of his golden opportunity this afternoon as he earned a point right at the death against Al Fateh to take his team back to the top of the Saudi Pro League.

And even the legendary Portuguese forward must have felt a huge sense of relief – especially after he was guilty of missing two sitters earlier in the game.

Christian Tello’s early strike had left Ronaldo’s side up against it but they managed to draw level just before the break through Anderson Talisca.

Sofiane Bendebka then notched for the home side and looked to have secured them a vital victory before the late drama.

Deep into additional time, Al-Nassr were awarded a penalty and there was only man who was ever going to take it.

And Ronaldo grabbed his opportunity with both hands as he powerfully side-footed the ball past the despairing goalie to level.

However, that was not the end of the action as a melee between both sets of players ensued after fellow scorer Talisca’s late challenge on an opponent.

A VAR check ensued, and it was discovered that the star had stamped on the back of his rival and the referee instantly issued him a red card.

But Ronaldo, who had earlier ballooned over from close-range and then denied by the crossbar, and the rest of Al-Nassr were able to hold for the remainder of the ten minutes of additional time for a share of the spoils.
