Five stars Tottenham could sign in summer including double transfer raid of Man City for Gabriel Jesus & Raheem Sterling

TOTTENHAM are preparing for a busy summer after they clinched a return to the Champions League for the first time in three seasons.

Antonio Conte has called for Daniel Levy and the Spurs board to back him in the transfer market amid speculation the Italian could still decide to leave.

And the Lilywhites have already been linked with a host of players.

Loanees Cristian Romero and Dejan Kulusevski are set to stay in North London after impressive finishes to the 2021/22 campaign.

But who else could come through the door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? Here are five stars they have been linked with.

Gabriel Jesus

With his Manchester City future up in the air following the arrival of Erling Haaland, Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Gabriel Jesus.

But Tottenham are now thought to be interested too and will have the upper hand on the North London rivals as they can offer Champions League football.

Speaking about his future after the final game of the season, Jesus told ESPN Brazil: "About my future, it’s still uncertain.

"I have a contract with City and I have already expressed my desire to the City people and to my agent. I have in my head [a very clear idea of] what I want.

"Today, I want to celebrate a lot with City. It’s obvious that I’m very happy here.

"Tomorrow, if everything goes well for me, my wife and our family, [daughter] Helena will come to the world.

"So, I have to take advantage of this moment. Then, think about the team, smile at the team again. And, on vacation, I [will] decide about my future."

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling started 23 Premier League games for Manchester City during their title-winning season.

And while he managed another 17 goals in all competitions, the England international has been linked with a move away from the Etihad.

The 27-year-old ace is going into the final 12 months of his £300,000-a-week contract after spending the last seven years at the Etihad.

And he plans to have a think about his future once he is finished with England duty in mid-June.

Sterling’s primary concern is that he may not continue to play regularly after he lost his place in the team earlier in the season.

While he won it back in the winter, he was left on the bench for both legs against Real Madrid in the Champions League and the final two matches of the season.

And he will be concerned the summer arrivals of Haaland and Julian Alvarez will make the competition for places in Pep Guardiola’s squad even stronger.

Spurs are one of several clubs linked with him – along with Arsenal.

Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen's return to the Premier League has been one of the fairytale stories of the season.

Following his cardiac arrest at the Euros last summer, some doubted whether he would be able to return to the form he showed for Tottenham and Inter Milan.

But since joining Brentford in January the Dane has been a revelation, registering five goal involvements and spearheading The Bees' surge away from the relegation zone.

He only signed a six-month deal with Brentford, so now the Prem's top clubs will be looking to swoop in for him.

And Spurs have been heavily linked with Eriksen in what would be a fan-friendly return.

Asked if Spurs re-signing Eriksen is a possibility, Conte told Sky Sports: “For sure, to work again with Christian is a fantastic opportunity.

“I enjoyed the time we spent together in Inter Milan, despite the first time he didn’t play regularly with me.

“But then when I understood what I wanted about him then he played. We won together a title, the league in Italy.

“When you have this type of player, a great player, a good man, I think every manager, every coach, likes to work with them.”

James Ward-Prowse

James Ward-Prowse is now the second most prolific free-kick taker in Premier League history behind David Beckham.

But the Southampton captain is so much more than that and received recognition for his performances by being nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award.

He has scored 10 goals and provided five assists in the Prem across the most recent campaign – figures which become even more impressive when you consider Southampton's struggles this season.

Tottenham have been linked with his services in the summer but they face competition from Newcastle.

And Ralph Hasenhuttl is under no pressure to sell as the England international has four more years left in his contract.

Djed Spence

Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence caught the eye of both Arsenal and Tottenham while on loan at Nottingham Forest this season.

The 21-year-old starred in Forest's FA Cup victory over the Gunners and has also proven himself to be a star in the Championship.

Arsenal and Tottenham appear to be leading the way in securing his signature, but Manchester United are also thought to be interested.

But Conte's 3-5-2/3-4-3 formation puts special emphasis on the wingbacks and Spence could be just the type of energy he is after.
