Football match abandoned as fan is 'seriously injured' and rushed to hospital after 'appalling' crowd trouble | The Sun

FLINT TOWN'S Welsh Premier League clash with Caernarfon Town wasabandoned after just 16 minutes yesterday when a fan was "seriously injured" amid crowd trouble.

The home side were leading 2-0 in the bottom-of-the-table clash when the match was abruptly halted.

Players were ordered off the pitch, with the game formally abandoned 30 minutes later and a police inquiry launched.

North Wales Police confirmed two fans had been injured, with one rushed to hospital in Aintree.

After dealing with goings on at Essity Stadium, cops were also deployed at Flint train station to try to prevent any further disturbances.

A 24-hour dispersal order was placed in Flint, ending at 6:30pm today.

And a heavy police presence remains in the area.

In a grave statement, Flint Town strongly condemned the incident – while urging anyone with further information to contact the police.

It read: "As a club we utterly condemn the appalling behaviour of a minority of individuals at today's game.

"We wish the two people who were injured a speedy and full recovery and would urge anyone with any mobile phone footage of the incidents to contact the police.
