‘No title for Harry Kane!’ Bayern Munich’s shock loss to RB Leipzig dominates Bild’s back page… with the £100m striker touching the ball only three times after coming off the bench on his debut

  • Harry Kane made his Bayern Munich debut but they lost 3-0 to RB Leipzig
  • £100m striker touched the ball only three times in 27 minutes after coming on
  • It means Kane’s wait for silverware continued after loss in DFL-SuperCup

Harry Kane’s debut for Bayern Munich dominated the back pages in Germany on Sunday morning – but not in the positive way he’d hoped for.

The England captain, who completed his £100million move from Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, wasn’t able to pick up the first silverware of his career in the German SuperCup.

Bundesliga champions Bayern lost 3-0 at home to cup holders RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena in the traditional season curtain-raiser on Saturday night.

And while Kane made his debut after coming off the bench in the 63rd-minute with Bayern two-down, he was unable to make any impact, touching the ball just three times in 27 minutes of action.

Instead, Leipzig’s Dani Olmo was the match-winner with an impressive hat-trick as they landed the first blow ahead of next weekend’s Bundesliga kick-off.

Harry Kane’s debut for Bayern Munich made the headlines in Germany – but not in the way the £100million striker would have wanted as they lost 3-0 to RB Leipzig

Dani Olmo ‘ruins’ the Kane party, said Bild’s headline, with the England captain getting only three touches of the ball after coming on in the 63rd-minute on Saturday night

Kane only completed his £100m move from Tottenham on Saturday and was thrown right in

‘No title for Kane,’ read the back page of Bild am Sonntag. ‘He never imagined his debut like this.’

Their inside match report headline said: ‘Olmo ruins Kane’s party: Spaniard’s hat-trick steals the show.’

Bild’s report described how a new era began for Bayern when record signing Kane emerged from the subs bench to a standing ovation at 10.08pm local time.

75,000 spectators in the stadium gave Kane a warm welcome as he made his debut a mere 26 hours after landing in Bavaria.

They also feature coach Thomas Tuchel’s joyous comments about ‘taking the England skipper out of England’.

He told beIN SPORTS pre-match: ‘We took the England skipper out of England to the German league!

‘It is a huge achievement for everybody who worked on the transfer.’

The England captain was unable to influence the game as his wait for a trophy continues

But afterwards, Tuchel could only apologise to Kane, 30, for the team’s poor display as his wait for a trophy continues.

‘I feel sorry for him. We did not keep the momentum going. We did not create enough for him,’ he said.

‘We don’t expect him to be the superhero. We just expect him to be who he is. A top guy, a top goalscorer and a top personality.

‘He will help us a lot. We need exactly his attitude to help us step out of the circle of repetitive performances like this. He does not need to learn from us. We need to learn from him.’
