Israel Adesanya fell asleep watching the 'most boring fight ever' between Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza at UFC 274

ROSE NAMAJUNAS' strawweight title fight with Carla Esparza put UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya to sleep.

The pair's 115lb rematch – which served as UFC 274's co-main event – staked a strong claim to be the most uneventful title fight in the promotion's history.

Both women were hesitant to engage and they only had a handful of meaningful exchanges throughout the five-rounder.

Fans in the arena got so bored they ended up performing a Mexican wave, but Adesanya – who watched the card with his brother David and friends at home in New Zealand – ended up nodding off.

In his latest fight reaction video, Adesanya can be seen dozing off on his sofa midway through the snoozefest.

David joked that it replaced his own unexciting fight with Yoel Romero in March 2020 as the "most boring title fight" in UFC history.

Before the main event between Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje got underway, Adesanya joked: "I thought it was a great fight."

Despite a serious lack of activity, Esparza regained the strawweight strap courtesy of a split-decision victory.

The fight did little to whet the appetite of UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

After the final horn,he said: “It’s the stinker of all stinkers. The dud of all duds.”

A disappointed Namajunas immediately began angling for a rematch in the post-fight press conference.

But UFC president Dana White isn't keen on seeing a third instalment of Namajunas vs Esparza after their dud of a rematch.

During the post-fight press conference, he said: "It was a weird fight, it seemed like they didn't want to engage.

"I think there was a total of six punches in the first round; it's a tough one but it happens sometimes.
