Liam Miller dead: Manchester United to black armbands in Newcastle clash out of respect for former midfielder's death from cancer

MANCHESTER UNITED will wear black armbands in today's Premier League clash at St James' Park.

The former Old Trafford midfielder died on Friday after suffering from pancreatic cancer for several months.

English, Scottish and Irish football has been united in outpourings of grief for the 36-year-old.

And United are set to pay tribute to their former player with black armbands.

Miller was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson from Celtic with high hopes and was blooded by the Scot in the 2004-05 season, but found it hard to establish himself in United's legendary midfield.

He later moved to Sunderland, then Hibernian, Perth Glory, Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City.
