Liverpool's most important player NOT Mo Salah or Virgil van Dijk as stats show absent midfield star key to red-hot form

LIVERPOOL'S most important star is NOT Mo Salah or Virgil van Dijk, stats have revealed.

In fact it is an absent Reds star who is most important to their red-hot form.

Salah and Van Dijk are worth well in excess of £150million are are two of the best players in the world.

But in stats revealed by Snack Media, it is actually Thiago who all but guarantees Liverpool win when he plays.

Jurgen Klopp's side have started with the Spaniard nine times this campaign and won all of them.

But in the six games they've had to play without him since last month, the Merseysiders have won just once.

Four of the games have been drawn and they have lost once – a 1-0 defeat at Leicester.

Thiago has been out since injuring his hip against Newcastle on December 16.
