Man Utd and Arsenal must smash transfer records to land Ruben Neves, claims Wolves boss Bruno Lage as he names price

WOLVES boss Bruno Lage has slapped a whopping £100million price tag on Arsenal and Manchester United target Ruben Neves.

Both clubs are understood to be keen on prising the 25-year-old away from Molineux, but Lage has played down a summer exit.

The Gunners have been linked with a swoop to sign Neves as a potential replacement for Granit Xhaka should he join Roma.

Meanwhile SunSport have exclusively revealed how incoming Red Devils gaffer Erik ten Hag gas made landing Neves a priority, with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic to leave as free agents.

But Wolves remain determined to keep hold of the Portugal international after opening up contract talks with the player last month.

And Lage has insisted Neves is happy to remain with the Midlands outfit as he insisted it would take Arsenal and United breaking their transfer records to land him.

Mikel Arteta's side would need to smash the £72m they paid for Nicolas Pepe from Lille in 2019.

United must also eclipse the £89m they splashed out in 2016 to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford from Juventus.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's clash against Brighton, Lage said: "We need to wait for an offer, we don’t have anything.

"We need to wait for an offer and understand what (will) really happen. What is good for the club, good for the player.

“For me, it is clear, if I want to work with Ruben, yes. If you ask the player if he wants to work for me, for sure he will say yes.

"But this is football and you never know what can happen in the next day.

“We can prepare the best strategy, for what we want, that is the best players on the pitch.

"I don’t have any problem with anyone in that position but if I have everyone available I will pick Ruben.

"It is clear because that’s what I did since the first day. He can give us a different dimension. He is a big player and our first choice for that position.

"We need to be ready for everything. A player like Ruben Neves has a value of £100m. Anything can happen, not just with Ruben."

Neves, who has missed the last three games due to a knee injury, has chipped in with four goals and two assists in 28 Premier League games this term.
