Man Utd Champions League winner ‘set to join club managed by Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert in shock transfer’ | The Sun

DUTCH legend Patrick Kluivert is set to snap-up a Champions League-winning Manchester United icon for Adana Demirspor.

The 47-year-old former striker has just taken over the ambitious Turkish club.

Adana moved to their new 33,500-capacity ground and named ex-AC Milan and Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montello as their manager in 2021.

They finished ninth in his first campaign, which was their first in the top tier since 1995, and then secured fourth place last term.

Now they are about to embark on their first European adventure but will have Kluivert in the hot-seat after Montella and the club mutually agreed to part ways last month.

They will face Romania’s CFR Cluj in the Europa Conference League second qualifying round and reports suggest that they could have one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s old stars within their ranks.

Kluivert, who previously worked as PSG's director of football, Cameroon assistant coach and Barcelona's academy director, is allegedly on the verge of signing Nani, says Goal.

The Portuguese international, 36, is a free agent after leaving Australian side Melbourne Victory.

And now he only has his medical to complete before he officially signs for the ninth club of his career.

Nani left Sporting Lisbon for Manchester United in 2007 and played 230 games for the Red Devils.

During his time with United Nani won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, the League Cup twice and the Club World Cup.

But after spending the 2014/15 campaign on loan back at Sporting he left Old Trafford in 2015 to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce and then headed to Spain with Valencia a year later.

Following a loan stint at Lazio, Nani headed back to Sporting for 12 months prior to joining MLS side Orlando City for two seasons in 2019.

He then endured a brief and difficult spell in Italy which resulted in relegation with Venezia prior to travelling Down Under to move to Melbourne Victory a year ago.

Nani, who won 112 caps for Portugal, failed to produce any goals in Australia but not does not appear to have put off Kluivert.
