NICK KYRGIOS has blasted the response to Novak Djokovic’s Australian Open vaccine row.
The anti-vax ace is being held in detention at a Melbourne hotel after seeing hisvisa to enter Australia sensationally revoked.
He had been granted a medical exemption to play the Grand Slam without a Covid jab, but immigration officials refused to grant him entry at the border.
Now Aussie firebrand Kyrgios – who is heavily in favour of vaccines – has criticised the supposed rough treatment of his rival.
He wrote on Twitter: “Look I definitely believe in taking action, I got vaccinated because of others and for my mother’s health.
“But how we are handling Novak’s situation is bad, really bad.
“Like these memes, headlines, this is one of our great champions but at the end of the day, he is human. Do better.”
Aussie Prime Minister Scott Morrison has weighed in on the situation, tweeting ‘rules are rules’ as news of Djokovic’s quarantine broke.

Kyrgios previously labelled the World No.1 a ‘tool’ over demands he made to ease isolation restrictions at last year’s Australian Open.
The Serb is being held in a quarantine hotel as he waits for a Monday court date to challenge the refusal to let him into the country.
His mum has claimed her son is trapped in a filthy room ‘full of fleas and maggots’ and he was being treated like a ‘prisoner’.
The 34-year-old has not openly spoken about his vaccination status, but last year did admit that he was ‘opposed’ to vaccination.
The 20-time Grand Slam winner announced that he was travelling to Australia with an ‘exemption permission’ on January 4.
But Australia's Border Force confirmed his visa had been revoked after he landed in the country and he was immediately escorted to the hotel.
