Peter Wright has endured a miserable Premier League Darts campaign so far, and one former player is expecting much more from him going forwards.
The two-time world champion is currently rooted to the bottom of the table as the only player yet to score a point. This prompted Sky Sports pundit and former player Mark Webster to urge ‘Snakebite’ to step up his game if wants to stand any chance of progressing.
“Peter Wright's quite experienced but he needs to offer more to the Premier League in terms of results,” the Welshman said on Sky Sports’ Love The Darts show. "He’ll be disappointed, two playoffs and he’s been in it every year since 2014 so he knows he should be doing better.

The 52-year-old hoped to ignite his campaign against Dimitri Van den Bergh in front of his home fans at Glasgow's OVO Hydro last Thursday, but was beaten 6-4 in the quarter-finals. Wright relished the opportunity to play in front of a home sell-out crowd after a winless start to his campaign, but claimed he wanted to "wreck the joint" after suffering another crushing loss.
"It is anger. I just want to wreck the joint," he said post-match. "The fans gave me a lovely welcome and I feel like I let them down. When you come and play for your country, at your home ground, it is not nice to lose. It is extra pressure and it can be difficult to deal with.
"Gary is the only other Scotsman in the field and he is the ambassador for Scotland. It is difficult to replace him. I am gutted for Scotland and gutted for myself." Now seven points off the pace, Wright was made to rue the missed opportunities to claw his way back into the match.

But despite facing an uphill battle, the world number two believes he can still win the Premier League. "I was looking forward to it, I was expecting to come here and win. I am gutted. I was in charge and missed six darts at the double," he added.
"If I didn't do that, maybe I could have won it. Ifs and buts don't win games though. I am not worried. I know I am good enough to win it. I can lose next week and the next two after that and still win it."
The challenges keep coming for Wright as he is set to take on world champion Michael Smith in the next round of the Premier League in Dublin on Thursday night.
