SunSport understand Everton are on the verge of signing the former Liverpool midfielder in deal worth upwards of £35million.

In fact, the Toffees are so confident of his arrival that they are already house-hunting on his behalf.

A deal is believed to have been agreed on paper.

However, the Blues want to asses whether he's fully recovered from knee surgery undertaken at the beginning of the month.

Coutinho is high on manager Carlo Ancelotti's wishlist.

The 28-year-old could form an incredible attacking partnership with fellow South American James Rodriguez, who arrived from Real Madrid last year.

Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool for an initial £105m that will rise to £142m if various clauses are activated.

Ronald Koeman's side will be forced to pay Liverpool a further £17m in bonuses if the Brazilian makes 100 appearances for the club.

And with 90 now under his belt – Barcelona are prepared to take a significant loss to avoid forking out again.

Everton are odds-on to secure Coutinho's services at 8/11 with Arsenal a distant second at 6s.

Leeds are back at a double-figure 12/1 with a mega-money move to the Chinese Super League the next most likely scenario at 14s.

A stunning return to Anfield is priced at 20/1 along with Italian heavyweights AC Milan.

Mauricio Pochettino's Paris Saint-Germain are the outsiders of the field at 25/1.

If he does join the blue half of Merseyside, Coutinho would join a small list of players to have played for both Liverpool and Everton in the Premier League era.

David Burrows, Don Hutchinson, Nick Barmby, Abel Xavier and Sander Westerveld were the five who crossed the divide.
