In-form Sweden will be looking to keep their momentum going at Euro 2020 with victory in the final round of 16 clash in the competition against Ukraine in Glasgow.

Sweden snatched a late victory against Poland last Wednesday to beat Spain to first place in Group E and qualify unbeaten for the knockout stages for the first time since 2004.

Ukraine meanwhile qualified as the fourth and final third-placed side in the group stage, but won just three points in Group C and went through with a negative goal difference following defeats by the Netherlands and Austria.

Yellow card for Yarmolenko there despite winning the free-kick for his side. The eventual attack however peters out, and both sets of players just starting to look a little leggy.

Best spell of possession Ukraine have seen since the start of this half really, with Sydorchuk looking to make inroads down the right.

We’re into the final quarter of an hour here, and there have been signs of plenty of magic already this evening.

Ukraine just trying to take the sting out of the game after the Swedish onslaught in recent minutes.

Can they muster a chance from somewhere?

OFF THE BAR!

Just minutes after hitting the post, Forsberg strike the woodwork again. The buildup was no less marvellous, cutting in off the left in a jinking run past defenders. Olsen rooted to the spot.

A top save there from Bushchan to keep the scores level. Forsberg’s corner comes all the way out to Kulusevski on the right, and the Juventus man cuts inside before trying to curl the ball into the top corner, which the Ukraine keeper stops.

Then at the other end on the break from the following corner, Yarmolenko does not open his body up enough to curl a left foot effort past Olsen. Still finely poised, this.

Sweden crank up the pressure down the left this time, and Matviyenko is required to make a thumping clearance from an excellent Augustinsson cross.

Isak then shoots wide after a lofted ball over the top first time, before Shaparenko is replace by Malinovskyi for Shevchenko’s men.

AGAINST THE POST AND OUT TWICE!

Yarmolenko is Ukraine’s answer to Forsberg and creates again here, running at the Swedish defence before pulling the ball back to Sydorchuk, who strikes it well but does not bring it back in enough and strikes the frame at the near post.

Then moments later at the other end, Isak finally goes on a run and slips in Forsberg, who takes a touch and then curls the ball onto the foot of the post. What a passage of play.

Not a bad try from Larsson, and Premier League fans know he can do that.

Again Forsberg is the man to pick the former Sunderland man with a pass, but he drags his shot wide of the near post.

Olsen does very well to read that long ball aimed at Yarmolenko, coming out of his goal well to avert the danger. Bit of cat and mouse between the sides right now though.

Sweden showing some of that confidence they would have gained from that Forsberg goal, and they are stroking the ball around nicely.

They are however reminded of the threat of Ukraine, and Danielsson does very well to intercept an awkward cross from the right.

We’re back going again at Hampden Park. Will we get a winner in 90 minutes?

A half that began slowly came to life in the second half of that first period to leave this final round of 26 game tantalisingly poised.

Manchester City defender Zinchenko gave Ukraine the lead with somewhat of a thunderbolt inside the area after good work from Yarmolenko.

But the influential Forsberg brought Sweden level with a deflected strike just before the break, which could give them a psychological boost.

It had to be the RB Leipzig man today, given how influential he has been.

He receives a square ball and chooses to strike it from 25 yards with his left foot this time, and his risk is rewarded as it takes a nick off Zabarnyi and past Bushchan to move just a goal behind Ronaldo in the race for the tournament’s top scorer.

Half-hearted appeals for a penalty here as Kulusevski goes down in the box after colliding with Matviyenko. Looks like he ran into the Shakhtar man more than anything.

A couple of nearly moments from Sweden, but Augustinsson cannot pick out a man from his cross and Ukraine again manage to deal with the balls into the box.

Sweden have managed to fashion some joy down the right but Larsson is among those who struggles to deliver an accurate cross from there. Forsberg at the heart of their attacking play yet again.

The chances are starting to flow now in this one, and the latest sees the influential Yarmolenko have a pop after Sweden fail to clear a free-kick, but his right foot effort is arrowed over.

Sweden look to hit back almost immediately, and Larsson very nearly catches out Bushchan with a long-range free-kick, curling around the wall to try and sneak it in at the near post as opposed to crossing. The Ukrainian keeper however eventually is equal to it.

What a strike this is! Yarmolenko collects the ball after a switch in play and with the outside of his left foot picks out a cross.

It finds Zinchenko at the back post, who comes on to it and hammers an effort past Olsen, who gets a hand to it but cannot prevent it from flying into the roof of the net.

Couple of lethargic moments from Sweden only increasing the Ukraine confidence at the moment. The latest sees Lindelof concede possession cheaply, but the move breaks down again when the Man United centre-back recovers to head a cross away.

Brilliant from Juventus star Kulusevski there, coming out to the right and whipping an excellent ball into the box on his left.

Sadly for the Swedes the lofted ball is just too high for the threatening Forsberg. Another move just a minute later sees the Juve man combine with Isak, who opens his body but curls his effort wide.

Ukraine certainly showing the progress they have made in passing the ball around under Shevchenko.

They may have had an underwhelming group stage but they have been threatening so far.

Good save, that

Olsen however is called into action on this occasion, parrying an effort from Yaremchuk after nice interplay between him and Yarmolenko

First proper effort on goal comes from Shevhcenko’s men, but after a delightful one-two in the middle of the park, Shaparenko strike a long-range effort well wide.

Forsberg central again to the latest Sweden attack, making the most of what he could with a cross to the near post before setting up Olsson, whose effort is blocked behind for a corner.

Emil Forsberg looking a bright spark early on meanwhile for Sweden, finding a pocket of space here and just overrunning the ball into Bushchan’s hands.

Ukraine looking comfortable so far, looking good in possession as we may have expected. Man City’s Zinchenko is indeed occupying that spot on the left wing.

It is Ukraine who get us underway in the blue kicking from right to left at Hampden Park. Can they cause another upset at this first knockout stage?

Two passionate anthems come to an end, and the final round of 16 game at Euro 2020 is set to get underway

Both side make their way out to a surprisingly sunny Hampden Park (or maybe not so surprising, dare I say it).

Time for the anthems.

Andriy Yarmoleno has two goals and one assist so far at Euro 2020.

The contributions have helped him surpass his boss as the national record holder for goal involvements.

His overall tallies now stand at 42 goals and 21 assists, just six goals short of Shevchenko’s goals for his country from 111 caps.

Just 10 minutes left until we have kick-off in Glasgow. Wembley did its best to warm us up… so will we see more drama in this one in the same vein as the last two days?

A reminder that the winner of this match plays England in Rome on Saturday. So who will be the next side to stand in Gareth Southgate’s side’s way?

Want to know more about the former Borussia Dortmund star? Our Secret Scout has had a look at him…

Alexander Isak has been one of the names of the tournament so far with his impressive displays for Sweden.

Another top display from him tonight in Scotland would only increase his chances of winning this competition

There’s been plenty of criticism of who hosts which games during this tournament, and Janne Andersson has added his name to that list recently…

Shevchenko gives Serhiy Sydorchukthe nod to anchor his midfield ahead of Taras Stepanenko, while Kryvstov replaces Malinovskiy.

Bushchan, Karavaev, Kryvtsov, Zabarnyi, Matvienko, Shaparenko, Stepanenko, Sydorchuk, Yarmolenko, Yaremchuk, Zinchenko

Just one change from the side that beat Poland, with Kulusevski replacing Quaison to partner star man Isak up front.

England have beaten Germany, as I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you, so whoever wins this game in Glasgow will face Gareth Southgate’s men.

The Euros just keeps getting more fascinating by the day.

He played a key role the last time these two sides met, and here he is in charge.

The last time these two faced each other was at Euro 2012.

Ukraine won 2-1 thanks to a double from their current boss, while the absent Ibrahimovic scored Sweden’s only goal.

Ibrahimovic struck first for the Swedes, before Shevchenko levelled just three minutes later, and then netting a 62nd minute winner

Ukraine were the fourth and final third-place side to make it through to the knockouts, but there group stage could have been more fruitful.

A fightback against the Netherlands ended in a 3-2 defeat thanks to Denzel Dumfries. And after a 2-1 win against North Macedonia, they suffered a 1-0 reverse by Austria.

The momentum is certainly not with Shevchenko’s men, they will still cherish progression to the knockouts for the first time since independence.

Sweden go into the final match of the first knockout round at Euro 2020 in excellent form.

They impressed in their draw against Spain and may have nicked a winner, but wins against Slovakia and a dramatic win against Poland sealed their place as group winners.

It is the first time since 2004 that Sweden have made it through to the knockouts, but they will be keen to ensure the journey does not end here.
