Templegate's Saturday Placepot picks

LEG 1: Emaraaty Ana, Nymphadora

EMARAATY ANA will enjoy dropping to this trip after being collared near the line over six furlongs at York last time.

He’s one of the few in the field who is best on the likely decent ground and he’s won much stronger races than this before.

NYMPHADORA was pipped in a Chester Group 3 two Saturdays ago and is best over this trip.

Her last win came on good ground so conditions should be fine.

LEG 2: Al Qareem, Israr

WA TO GO

Nashwa OUT of the Breeders’ Cup but to run at Ascot and stay in training at five

AL QAREEM showed real heart when scoring at Chester last time and can follow up.

Karl Burke’s hopeful enjoyed dropping back to this distance on the Roodee and gets weight from some of his main rivals.

ISRAR can’t be ignored. He didn’t fire on the all-weather at Kempton latest but took a Group 2 on the July course and looks a threat.

LEG 3: Annaf, Commanche Falls

ANNAF clocked a career-best when winning the Portland at Doncaster last time and can follow up.

The form of that race looks strong and he can take another step forward now he’s broken his turf duck.

COMMANCHE FALLS was ahead of the tip when winning the Hackwood at Newbury in July and looks a big threat on the back of a gutsy York success.

LEG 4: Escobar, Fresh

ESCOBAR is a whopping 16lb lower in the handicap than when winning this race 12 months ago and that gives him a major chance. He wasn’t disgraced over an inadequate 6f in the Ayr Gold Cup last time and his best form has come at Ascot. Neil Callan can get a good tune out of him.

FRESH was a little unlucky at The Curragh last time and will enjoy going back up to this trip.

LEG 5: Breege, Queen Animatu

BREEGE is interesting dropped to 7f after going close over a mile at Sandown latest. She was beaten just a length in the Sandringham Stakes on her last visit to the track.

QUEEN ANIMATU tried to come from too far back when fifth at Doncaster last time and looks a threat for William Haggas.

LEG 6: Mountain Peak, Tees Spirit

MOUNTAIN PEAK came right back to his best when a close second over course and distance last time. Fast ground brings out the best in him.

TEES SPIRIT went close off this mark at Haydock two runs ago before meeting traffic problems in the Portland at Doncaster.
