UFC legend Jon Jones slams AEW's ex-WWE star Jake Hager for rejecting 'chance of a lifetime' grappling match

UFC star Jon Jones has blasted AEW's former WWE star Jake Hager for turning down a grappling match.

The two men were scheduled to meet in the cage for Fury Grappling MMA organisation.

But Jones has revealed that the fight is OFF.

He tweeted: “You can’t gloat about turning down a grappling match with the goat.

"You had the opportunity of a lifetime, now you’re doing interviews about what you would’ve done.”

Hager, who went by the ring name Jack Swagger in wrestling, has fought four times under the Bellator MMA banner.

He has won three times with another declared a no-contest.

Two were submission wins with the other a split decision points victory.

Jones now looks set to return to the UFC – and fighting in a new weight division.

He has vowed to have the heavyweight title wrapped around his waist by the end of 2022.

The former long-reigning 205lb king is set to make his eagerly-anticipated debut in the division against the winner of next month's heavyweight title unification bout between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane.

And Jones, who has spent nearly two years on the sidelines beefing up, is confident he'll dethrone the winner of UFC 270's main event.

He wrote on Instagram: "I said I’ll be the champion in 2022, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

"I feel like I’m jumping up three weight classes, going from competing at 205 pounds to 265 pounds is no easy task.

"Nothing great happened overnight, I’m patient and I’m working my ass off every day towards my goals."
