Alison Hammond gets tearful after choir performance
Alison Hammond wiped away tears from her eyes during an emotional moment with Dermot O’Leary during Friday’s This Morning. It came when a choir formed of young carers, Young Carers Aloud, performed live on the ITV magazine show.
Ahead of their performance, Alison and Dermot chatted to some of the youngsters in the choir, who’d detailed their excitement.
Charlotte Church was recently announced as the group’s new vocal coach and surprised them earlier this year.
“We are honoured to be joined by the Young Carers Aloud today – good morning to you,” Alison welcomed.
The choir then sang ‘It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas,’ and the performance touched the two presenters. Wiping her eyes, Alison joked: “My eyes are not watering, what are you on about?”

“You’re crying, I’m not crying!” Dermot exclaimed. Alison has worked on This Morning for years and became the official Friday host alongside Dermot in 2021.
More recently she has taken on a bigger role following Holly Willoughby’s exit from the show. However, she has recently hinted she might have plans to start a new venture.
The popular presenter confessed: “I love my job and I’m good at it. But I’ve always got plans, things I want to do next. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked for my own show.”

Speaking to Women’s Own magazine, she continued: “That’s what I want, a show called Alison. It might get to the point where I just make it myself!”
In the same interview, Alison also admitted she’d like to join Loose Women. The 48-year-old appeared as a guest host between 2002 and 2004 and seems keen to join the growing panel.
It’s been a tough year for This Morning, with Phillip making a controversial exit back in May after admitting to having had an affair with a younger colleague. Holly presented with a rotation of other hosts including Alison, Dermot, Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle, Rylan Clark and Rochelle Humes.
This Mopring airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
