GOGGLEBOX's Lee Riley and Jenny Newby today paid tribute to Andy Michaels after what they called a “s*** couple of weeks” for the show's families.
The sad news was confirmed yesterday in a statement from the popular television network and Studio Lambert on behalf of his family.
Since then his co-stars and fans have flocked to sical media tribute to the much-loved star.
Jenny and Lee – who shot to fame on the fourth season of the show in 2014 – took to Twitter to share their heart break.
They wrote: "One of the original cast members of Gogglebox our deepest condolences to Carolyne and family such a s*** couple of weeks for all our Gogglebox families RIP Andy x."
One viewer wrote on their Twitter page: "Aw another likeable star R.i.p Handsome Andy Michael, thoughts with his Family & Friend x."
A second said: "R.I.P. Another #Gogglebox member Andy Michael. Now a resident of that big arm chair in the sky!! Much to the rest of the family."
A third added: "Andy Michael from #Gogglebox has passed away. He genuinely loved his family. I will always remember him talking about playing football as a child and tearing up. And let's not forget about his love of Nigella Lawson. RIP Andy."
A fourth chimed in: "Saddened by the news that #andymichael has passed away. My condolences to his family."
Andy died aged 61 following a short illness.
Channel 4 and Studio Lambert's statement said: "We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Gogglebox star Andy Michael at the age of 61 following a short illness.
"Andy passed away last weekend with his family by his side.
"Retired hotelier Andy, who brought much wit and insight to Gogglebox, was one of the show's original cast members, appearing in the very first episode in 2013.

"Beloved father to Katy, Alex, Pascal and Louis, and cherished husband of Carolyne, Andy was a much-loved and respected member of the Gogglebox family, and he will be very sadly missed.
"Our love and thoughts are with Carolyne and the entire family.
"The family have asked for privacy at this very sad time".
Michael, his wife Carolyne and their children Louis, Alex, Katie and Pascal made their first appearance on the programme on the first ever series back in 2013.
They didn't appear in the fifth season, but have been back on our screens ever since.
This was because Andy decided to run for Ukip in the general election in 2014, but after he failed to secure the Hastings and Rye seat, they returned for future episodes.
Michael's heartbreaking death comes after it was revealed co-star Mary Cook had died aged 92 in hospital.
She starred in the show alongside best pal Marina Wingrove from 2016 after getting scouted in a supermarket.
In June, co-star Pete McGarry died of bowel cancer.
The 71-year-old passed away at home in Essex at the weekend with wife Linda and his beloved family by his side.
Pete starred in Gogglebox alongside his other half from series two to three, and seven to 16. Their son George also joined them on the sofa at times too.
