The antiques expert, 36, admitted she wouldn’t “rule out” a career change as she discussed her Bargain Hunt career. The regular on the BBC joined the show in 2013 and shares her extensive knowledge as contestants battle it out for the best auction profits. The TV valuation specialist has other career plans up her sleeve though and has hinted she might make an exit from the programme one day.
Natasha fronts the series along with other experts, who are assigned a team to assist in each episode.
When asked about why she chose a career in antiques, Natasha explained: “I was gently nudged in the direction of the antiques trade and auction houses by my dad, who thought that I’d be well-suited to the environment.
“Although I’d never normally admit it, he was absolutely right!”
Talking to the BBC about what she would do if she wasn’t working with antiques, she replied: “My plan was always to follow in my parents’ footsteps and open a restaurant.
“If I’m honest, I’m not ruling it out as a sideline… there’s nothing quite like catering to keep you on your toes!”
Could the valuation specialist move on from Bargain Hunt to pursue her catering dream?
Natasha has become a favourite among fans of the long-running series.
After a long stint on the show, viewers would undoubtedly be disappointed to see her leaving.
Speaking about her favourite part of the job, Natasha told BBC: “Apart from the sightseeing, I just love meeting the red and blue teams – Bargain Hunt just wouldn’t be the same without the wonderful, bubbly contestants who simply cannot believe that their time to don the fleece has come.”
She added that when it comes to shopping locations, Wales is her favourite.
“I have had lots of fun at both Builth Wells and Anglesey,” she commented.
Natasha recently opened up about “breaking rules” on the show, though.
Explaining how she had purchased a painting that the show contributors didn’t want, Natasha told Morning Live presenters Kym Marsh and Gethin Jones: “Well, (that moment) certainly sticks out because what I did was I broke a very basic rule.
“I brought something the team didn’t want, behind their back.
“I don’t know why I did that – it was a very busy day on Portobello Road.”
The art pro continued: “But thankfully, it turned a profit.
“James in the studio would be very pleased as both the guests were vets and the painting was of a veterinary subject matter.”
The presenter also offers her expertise on several other antiques-based shows, such as Flog it! and Antiques Road Trip.
Bargain Hunt is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
