BBC Breakfast’sNaga Munchetty took a cheeky swipe at her co-star and bluntly said she “doesn’t care” about their report live on air.

During Friday’s visit (August 18) to the BBC studios, the 48-year-old broadcaster welcomed viewers back to the signature red sofa with her co-host Charlie Stayt.

Throughout the show, the presenting duo discussed some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines this morning before they welcomed one of Sir Michael Parkinson's childhood friends onto the show.

This included England’s upcoming match in the Women’s World Cup final and the dramatic decline of nightclubs who are being forced to close across the country.

It’s fair to say it didn’t take long before things turned frosty on the show, after Naga welcomed beloved meteorologist Carol Kirkwood onto the show to deliver the latest weather report.

After discussing the highly anticipated football match set to kick off on Sunday (August 20), Naga confessed she "didn't care" about the weather.

She said: "There's a little over 48 hours to go, I don't care what the weather's like at that point in the morning between 11am and 12 or 1pm, I don't care.

"Sorry Carol, I'm going to listen to most of what you say but when it comes to Sunday I'm just going to switch off. I think that's okay."

Carol agreed: "I think everybody will be the same, Naga but having said that the weather's not looking too bad for most of us on Sunday."

The broadcaster kept the running joke going throughout the show when Carol returned an hour later to share the latest updates with viewers just tuning in.

Naga added: "No one's caring about what you're saying about Sunday morning's weather," before she rightly pointed out that there will be a lot of people who are not football fans and will be interested in the weekend's weather report.

She continued: "Actually there will be a lot of people who are not football fans even though they'll get into the spirit of it, there will be a lot of people who will be out and about, doing stuff with families and stuff on Sunday, so every second matters Carol."

Carol returned with her third and final weather report just before the morning show came to an end, where Naga was forced to issue an apology to the blonde bombshell after she received backlash from fans online.

The TV host grovelled: "Carol, you know how I said I didn't care about Sunday's weather then I kind of modified myself, well someone has messages saying, 'Well, we care about the weather on Sunday because we're having a World Cup barbecue'.

"So they're outside and in, so people do care, always, Carol. Have a lovely weekend."
