BBC The Traitors series 3 confirmed with Claudia Winkleman continuing as host

The Traitors: Wilfred Webster reveals he’s a traitor

The BBC has confirmed The Traitors will be returning for a third series, and applications are now open for those wanting to take part in the psychological reality competition.

The announcement comes ahead of the second series landing on screens following the success of its integral season which reach 21 million viewers at its peak.

It made the show the biggest new series for young audiences across all BBC titles in 2022.

For those unfamiliar with the show’s format, it involves 22 strangers playing the ultimate game of trust and deceit as they hope to walk away a lot richer.

The show’s hosted by Strictly Come Dancing star Claudia Winkleman, who is returning for the upcoming seasons.

Claudia recently said she initially turned down the presenting role when she realised it meant staying in Inverness, Scotland for three weeks.

Speaking on the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast, she explained: “We had no idea if it was going to do well. I literally got onto the train to Inverness holding some red leather gloves and a cloak.

“And they said at the end there are going to be ceremonial pouches, I was like, ‘Guys I think we’re f****d.’ Like, ‘It’s all over, night night, I’ve had a really good run, I get it.’

“I phoned my husband and I was like, ‘OK, we’re going to have to rethink everything.’”
