Boy George vented to Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver about Conservative MP Matt Hancock on the latest instalment of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! He asked if he used “any of his brains” as he talked about the politician behind his back. This caused ITV viewers to hit out over the singer on social media.

During the instalment, Boy George started speaking to Sue about Matt in the camp lookout where he admitted: “I find him very hard to warm to.”

The singer added: “Everyone else I feel connected to in a kind of, without having to know the ins and outs of who you are.”

Sue remarked: “You’ve got an economist in a camp with a load of creatives.

“He’s maths all the way, he uses a different side of his brain. Do you know what I mean?”

Boy George then quipped: “Does he use any of his brains?”

Sue said to ITV viewers: “I think Matt’s doing everything he can to fit in, as the days go by we are finding more and more common ground.

“So that’s nice that there is something other than the elephant in the room, because there is an elephant in the room.”

His comments about Matt did not sit well with viewers, with @Zephyr00738100 commenting: “Right Boy George, Matt’s not taking it too far, you just don’t like him babes #boygeorge @BoyGeorge #antanddec #imaceleb.”

@jesshanrahanx said: “Boy George has I have to be centre of attention at all times syndrome #ImACeleb.”

@Jakebug22 added: “Boy George has to go, he’s a miserable rude man and Sue is a two-faced woman #ImACeleb.”

@Someuser6969 remarked: “As usual Boy George has nothing good to say behind anyone’s back.”

@Compo_7 penned: “Unpopular opinion – I like Matt Hancock more than I like Boy George. #ImACeleb.”

Boy George’s remarks came a day after viewers called him out for trying to pick a fight with the West Suffolk MP who had been elected as camp leader with Mike Tindall.

Boy George became irritated on Monday’s episode and accused Matt of “kicking off” over chores.

Behind the politician’s back, Boy George swiped: “You f***ing clean them.”

Viewers backed Matt and suggested the Karma Chameleon hitmaker was “looking for a row”.

The singer has spoken openly in the Bush Telegraph about his issues with the Tory MP since he arrived in camp.

He even threatened to leave the programme as he broke down in tears over Matt’s action as Health Secretary during the coronavirus pandemic.

Days later Boy George had to undertake the dreaded eating Bushtucker Trial with Matt, where he came across as civil to the MP.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs daily on ITV at 9pm.
