A former best friend of the singer Britney Spears has claimed that her friends are not even allowed to speak to her if they bump into her.

Sean Phillip, who used to be the Toxic star’s best friend and assistant, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday where he made the bombshell claims.

Appearing on the show to discuss Britney’s conservatorship hearing, which could mean the rule is finally lifted after 13 years, Sean claimed the security team appointed under the conservatorship blocks anyone from speaking to the singer without clearance.

He told hosts Susanna Reid and Alastair Campbell: ‘[I bumped into her in] Hawaii recently but nobody is allowed to talk to her.

‘Her security is controlled by her conservatorship, they tell people that nobody is allowed to talk to her, everybody needs clearance.

‘I bumped into her in London in 2009 – the same thing, it was just like a brief “Hi” and “Bye” and that’s it. Nobody’s allowed through that filter anymore.’

Sean also opened up on what Britney is really like, explaining: ‘There’s nothing strange about Britney, she’s quirky.

‘What she deals with is strange. So if any of us had those external influences in our lives, we would face some problems at some point but I think she’s dealing with it well and I don’t feel like she had a choice to deal with it.

‘I feel like there were outside influences over the years. I’m proud of her for what she’s doing now and trying to take control of what’s going on.’

Sean added that he hopes Britney will be freed from the conservatorship and able to regain control of her life and finances once more.

He added: ‘I just want everyone to know, I think it’s going to get better and I’m glad she’s taken control of everything. She deserves it.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
