Jodie, 35, was given odds of 5/4 by Ladbrokes ahead of rival Kris Marshall after a flurry of bets.
BBC chiefs will unveil Time Lord Peter Capaldi’s replacement after the men’s Wimbledon singles final on Sunday.
They posted a 60-second teaser for the 13th Doctor Who on Friday.
It showed the number 13 at landmarks including Downing Street, the Statue of Liberty and White Cliffs of Dover.
Speculation over the appointment has been rife since Peter announced his exit in January.
Jodie and Death in Paradise star Kris, 44, had equal 6/4 odds until yesterday.
