Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has form when it comes to taking revenge on his enemies in Emmerdale, so it’s little wonder that Chas (Lucy Pargeter) has him at the top of the suspect list for Caleb Miligan’s (William Ash) attack.

Alongside his many, many, transfer of people from car boots to abandoned barns, many will recall him leaving Joe Tate for dead with a heavy punch, and being instrumental in the death of nemesis Al.

It’s something that Chas hasn’t forgotten, as she explodes with rage in a new video preview for an intense episode.

As Caleb lies in an induced coma next to them, Chas declares that this is Al all over again.

An affronted Cain asks if she seriously believes he is responsible for this, but she isn’t believing his act of innocence.

Chas points out that he has got quite the motive, given Caleb’s return to his life before then betraying him.

Caleb was dramatically pushed from a ravine and left for dead after being followed by an assailant following a big row with half the village in the Woolpack.

It has sparked a mystery over who is responsible for the act, with Cain far from the only person who might have blood on their hands.

‘Cain just feels incredibly stupid in terms of letting Caleb into his life again and letting him help with Kyle, with regards to the whole prison thing,’ actor Jeff, very experienced in giving interviews over being on suspect lists, told us.

‘He’s let his guard down, let him back in, only to find out what’s been going on. There’s a lot of resentment there now as he feels incredibly let down.

‘I think Cain was beginning to accept the fact that he had a brother and he was beginning to quite like that they were starting to get on.

‘It’s a shame, as far as Cain’s concerned, because once you let him down he isn’t the type of person to give you a second chance.

‘I think there is always potential for anything with Cain. If he’s pushed in the wrong direction or if he flies off the handle then anything can happen.’

Regardless of the outcome, and our money is on Cain being far too likely a suspect to be the culprit, Jeff is enjoying being in the midst of the action.

‘It’s the nature of the show we are in that we often have these ‘whodunnits’ and I’ve been in the line-up for many different things over the years. It’s just another day in paradise for me!’ he laughed.

‘Will (Ash) and I are good mates and he is a brilliant actor to work with. I feel blessed to be working with him and really grateful that he’s in the show and I have a lot of scenes with him.
