Coronation Street fans were baffled by the appearance of mysterious newcomer Chris on Christmas Day – but are now sure it's not the last we've seen of him, as they rumbled a huge DNA twist.
The red-suited walker was heading out for a festive hike when Fiz Stape was furiously driving away from Weatherfield, and helped her locate a phone box to call Tyrone's garage for help.
Chris didn't have a mobile phone, and confessed he was without family, leading plenty of fans to speculate that he could be Father Christmas in disguise.
But other eagle-eyed viewers are now sure he could be a lot less mythical – and could actually have a DNA connection to one Tyrone Dobbs.
Some fans now think Chris could be Tyrone's real dad.
His step-father Darren Dobb swas a quasi father-figure, dropping the bombshell on Tyrone that Jackie probably wasn't his biological mum.
Which means there's a dad-shaped hole in Tyrone's life that the soap could eventually fill.
Taking to Reddit, one fan wondered: "Did Fiz imagine the guy? The guy that was helping Fiz get to her family. Why did he hide when Fiz went to show Tyrone who he was. Did she imagine him the whole time to help her find the motivation to get home. Why would he hide from her otherwise? I’m so confused."
Someone else, however, was more clued up as they replied: "I have a weird feeling he’s going to turn up later as Tyrone’s dad."
Another user begged: "Oh no. Please don’t go down that road!"
Someone else theorised: "Chris is either related to John Stape or Phill, calling it now."
Over on Twitter, meanwhile, one user said: "What's the relevance of that Chris guy? Something brewing."
As someone else begged: "Chris needs to be a permanent character!"
"Imagine if Chris and Phill are related," another posted.
Other fans, however, were simply insistent that Chris was a festive treat put in there to help Fiz make it to her wedding on time.
One Reddit user said: "It was Santa! They left it long enough for Tyrone to look that he could have just walked out of view but I think it was just a little Xmas thing."
As someone else argued: "His name is Chris. He's dressed in red. Every Christmas he goes for a long journey by himself and eventually makes his way back home.
"Doesn't have modern technology, no cell phone. Was near the letter box. Came to help Fiz when she was in need on Christmas day."
