Dancing On Ice fans in tears over ‘beautiful’ tribute to late pro skater Sean Rice

Dancing On Ice viewers were left in tears on Sunday night as the ITV show paid tribute to late skater Sean Rice after hetragically passed away on 14 January aged 49.

During the latest episode, pros Alexandra Schauman and Lukasz Rozycki delivered a "beautiful" routine dedicated to their close friend.

Speaking prior to the performance, guest host Stephen Mulhern, who replaced Phillip Schofield for the episode, said: "First, we've got a stunning performing choreographed by two of the professional skaters that they would like to dedicate to someone very special."

With Holly Willoughby adding: "Former Dancing On Ice professional, Sean Rice, sadly passed away in January. He will be missed by all that knew him and our thoughts are with his family.

"So here, with a beautiful routine dedicated to Sean are two of his closest friends Alexandra and Lukasz."

Viewers were left in tears over the tribute and special performance as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One person said: "What a truly emotional and heart warming skate in tribute to Sean Rice. Wiping a teary eye… #DancingOnIce."

A different account put: "Beautiful performance by @IceLukasz and @AlexandraLukasz , such a lovely tribute to Sean Rice. #DancingOnIce."

Another follower commented: "#DancingOnIce So good to see that tribute. @IceLukasz & @AlexandraLukasz – it was beautiful. RIP Sean. xxx #DancingOnIce."

While a different viewer added: "A beautiful routine and a lovely tribute to Sean Rice. He'd of been really proud of that routine. #DancingOnIce. Well done @IceLukasz and @AlexandraLukasz."

Dancing On Ice star Sean passed away aged 49 on Friday 14 January, just days before the 2022 season of the hit ITV show returned to screens.

Last month, a spokesperson for Dancing On Ice confirmed the tragic news, writing: "We are all deeply saddened to hear this news.

"Sean was a wonderful skater and friend to many on the Dancing On Ice team. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time."

Sean is survived by his wife and fellow professional skater, Jodeyne Higgins, whom he shares daughter Signey with.

The late professional skater joined Dancing On Ice in 2011 where he was partnered with newsreader Angela Rippon.

The following year, he teamed up with Chemmy Alcott. The pair were eliminated shortly before the final.
