'Dave' Season 3 Confirmed at FX; Get Ready for the 'Funniest Season Anyone's Ever Made of Television'

Fans of Dave “Lil Dicky” Burd have been waiting for news of the FX series’ renewal. Now, FX has officially confirmed Dave Season 3. Here’s everything we know about the forthcoming season of the series starring Burd, GaTa, Andrew Santino, Taylor Misiak, Travis “Taco” Bennett, and Christine Ko.

‘Dave’ Season 3 is happening, but there’s no release date yet

Variety confirmed season 3 of Dave on Feb. 17, 2022. Burd hinted at the show’s renewal on Feb. 16 with the tweet: “retweet if you want a season 3.”

The news of Dave Season 3 came after some 14.5 thousand users retweeted Burd’s tweet. Now, fans can’t wait to hear more details about the new season. At publication, FX has not announced a release date for season 3.

After season 1 premiered on FX, Dave became the network’s most-watched comedy series with an average episodic audience of 5.32 million. Burd co-created the series with Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Still no album news for Lil Dicky fans

While many fans are excited about Dave’s renewal, others are wondering when they’ll hear new music from the rapper. Before the season 2 finale was complete, Burd spoke with Deadline about his music and the future of the series.

“I’m not even done with this finale we’re talking about,” Burd said at the time. “I’ve been handing in every single episode of the season at the deadline, like four days before it’s on TV.”

He continued, addressing the lack of music he was producing for fans: “It’s been so long, and my fans are probably so annoyed at me. When I’m working seven days a week, like 16 hours a day, I can’t open up Pro Tools at night and tinker around.”

Burd was looking forward to wrapping on season 2 so he could focus on new music. “I feel more urgent of a desire to prove myself as a legitimate musical artist, rapper, independent of a TV show,” he added. “So, I look forward to that challenge.”

The rapper did give fans a music video and full-length version of “We Good,” which he and GaTa perform in the season 2 finale of Dave. Still, fans haven’t heard anything yet about new music.

‘Dave’ Season 3 should be the ‘funniest season anyone’s ever made of television’

Season 2 ended on a high note, with GaTa joining Lil Dicky on stage at MTV’s Video Music Awards for a duet of the song “We Good.” In the episode’s final moments, Dave and GaTa were seen on tour together, performing in front of many at small nightclub locations instead of the massive stages Dave originally had in mind.

While the plot for Dave Season 3 remains unclear, one thing is certain — Burd has high hopes of creating one of the funniest seasons of television. “I feel like Season 3, I’m creating the funniest season that anyone’s ever made of television,” Burd explained to Deadline. “But that is so subject to change. That’s just where I’m at right now, mentally.”
