Desperate Embarrassing Bodies patient seeks 'vampire' treatment on 'broken vagina' in bold TV first

A DESPERATE Embarrassing Bodies patient will seek a 'vampire' treatment on a 'broken vagina' in a bold TV first.

The E4 show returns on Thursday with a new series after seven years off screen.

Three new doctors are on hand to deal with people's unusual and intimate health problems, and one of the first to be seen is Sam, 44.

The mother-of-one from Essex says she has a “broken vagina”, caused by an incurable inflammatory condition called Lichen sclerosus which has affected her for over 30 years.

She suffered from vaginal dryness and soreness since she was a teenager, which had a devastating impact on her social life as well as her sex life.

Lichen sclerosus causes sore and itchy white patches, making skin bleed and split open.

While it can be on any part of the body, it is most common around the genitals and Sam says: “I used to get it so badly I wouldn’t want to go out. I couldn’t wear tampons, thongs or jeans.

“I went to the sexual health clinic and to see doctors but was constantly told it was thrush and advised to use creams such as Canesten.”

She told Dr Jane Leonard how one time, her skin split during sex while away on holiday, and so when she returned she visited a private gynecologist who diagnosed the condition.

However, the treatments she subsequently tried only helped temporarily, which is why she sought the help of the Embarrassing Bodies team.

Dr Leonard recommended Sam have a Harley Street specialist treatment involving platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in her vagina.

The injections work on the same basis as the infamous “vampire” cosmetic facials used by famous people including Kim Kardashian and model Bar Refaeli.

Embarrassing Bodies begins on Thursday at 9pm on E4 and All4.
