EastEnders actor arrested on suspicion of child sex offence

An EastEnders actor has been arrested on suspicion of committing child sex offences.

The man from London, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been released on bail while police continue enquiries.

The performer has spent years working in the TV industry and regularly boasts about his roles, as reported by The Sun.

He ‘often plays a police officer or official figures’ on the BBC programme as part of his work.

On social media he is also said to have shared photos of himself on the set of the soap, including ones posing outside the Queen Vic pub.

The police confirmed his arrest saying: ‘On Sunday, 23 April a man was arrested at an address in the vicinity of Elthorne Road, N19 on suspicion of engaging in sexual communications with a child.’

‘He was taken into police custody and has since been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in late June.’

They added: ‘Enquiries into the circumstances continue.’

The suspected offence, sexual communication with a child, is an either-way offence, meaning the case can be heard in a Magistrates’ or Crown Court.

It carries a maximum prison sentence of two years, leading the perpetrator to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

EastEnders has been on air since 1985 and has aired 6688 episodes throughout that time.

Set in the fictional borough of Walford in the East End of London, the programme follows the stories of local residents and their families as they go about their daily lives.
