EASTENDERS fans have spotted a chilling parallel in the soap's Ben Mitchell sex assault storyline.
Viewers last night saw the Albert Square bad boy become the victim of rape at the hands of Prince Albert manager Lewis Butler.
As the bar closed, a drunk Ben – believing his marriage was in tatters – headed upstairs with him.
However, after seeing a message from Callum, Ben had second thoughts and asked Lewis to stop – but he refused.
As many viewers pointed out, there were chilling echoes to the 1988 EastEnders storyline involving Ben's mum Kathy Beale.
She was sexually assaulted by the evil James Willmott-Brown in the same venue as Ben, back when it was known as The Dagmar.

The venue was a rival to the Queen Vic that Wilmott-Brown turned into a yuppie wine bar.
One fan pointed out: "That was the same place Kathy was raped by Wilmot-Brown when it was known as The Dagmar wasn't it?
"Harrowing scenes. Poor Ben. Even though we knew about this storyline it was still a huge shock. ?."
Another tweeted: "Ben gets raped the same place where his mum Kathy got raped by James Willmott Brown ? The parallels."

The plot – which attracted vast numbers of complaints at the time – saw Kathy raped by her boss, wine bar owner James, played by William Boyde.
The plot was groundbreaking as well as shocking. In 1988 it was rare for a woman to be shown being attacked by someone she knew and trusted.
Willmott-Brown did return to EastEnders in 2017 and finally confessed to raping Kathy in a tense confrontation with Ian.
He yelled: “You want the truth? Your mum taunted me. Played with me. Denied me. So I took it. I showed her. I did it. I raped her.”
