EastEnders' Lola Pearce actress Danielle Harold breaks silence on shock axing from BBC soap | The Sun

EASTENDERS star Danielle Harold has broken her silence on being axed from the soap.

The actress – who plays Lola Pearce in the BBC soap – was left teary and upset after being told by bosses that she would be leaving the show.

The Sun exclusively revealed how Danielle will not have the option to return to the soap after her exit.

But now the star has opened up, insisting she is excited to be leaving.

She told the Daily Star: “EastEnders has been such a big part of my life, but I can’t wait to start something new. I want to work on other things and play other characters.

"I can’t wait to get out there and see what’s possible.

"I’d love to do a drama. I want to do something completely different to soaps. I’d love to get back to doing some films as well."

Script bosses are planning a major storyline around single mum Lola’s departure.

It is part of new boss Chris Clenshaw’s plan to shake-up the show with a number of explosive twists over the summer.

An Albert Square insider said: “Dan was in pieces. The cull came out of the blue.

“She was not expecting the chop because her character has been a firm favourite with viewers. She’ll be written out with no option to return.”

Danielle met with bosses last week after her contract had just six months left to run.

She was expecting to discuss an extension.

The set insider added: “Danielle was teary but was told a number of the cast were being shown the door.

"No-one else has been given their marching orders yet however.
