Lola (played by Danielle Harold) had started to lose hope that Isaac (Stevie Basaula) would ever want her back since he has refused her visits to him. He decided weeks ago to come off his schizophrenia medication despite Lola’s concerns, and the EastEnders teacher saw himself fall into a downward spiral as he struggled with his condition. Eventually, he was sectioned, and his mother Sheree Trueman (Suzette Llewellyn) placed a lot of blame on Lola for not telling anyone what Isaac had done. But Friday’s episode of the BBC soap saw Isaac turn a corner after a patient questioned why he refused to see Lola and warned him she had done the same thing and ended up alone. He decided to hold onto his relationship after realising Lola was good for him, and the pair had a chat. Determined to make sure they stick by each other in the future, could Isaac propose to Lola?
The two were working well as a couple before Isaac’s mental health began to deteriorate.
Isaac told mother-of-one Lola about his illness when they started their relationship, and she promised to stick by him no matter what happens.
She proved that in recent weeks as she kept visiting him in the hospital despite being continuously turned away, and now it seems Isaac has decided to give things a go again.
Although they haven’t been a couple for very long, the serious relationship has already managed to survive some big challenges – so it seems the two could decide to tie the knot.
Lola sees Isaac as a good influence in her life and her daughter Lexi’s (Isabella Brown); he’s a teacher and is a lot more responsible than some of Lola’s ex-boyfriends.
And she told him immediately she knew there could be some battles to face, but she was serious about them as a couple.
For this reason, Lola’s been devastated recently after turning up each day in hopes that Isaac would agree to see her, but to no avail.
She seemed ready to call it a day and accept their relationship could be over when finally, Isaac agreed to see her on Friday’s episode.
It came as another patient at the hospital asked him why Lola hadn’t been around as much lately.
He replied: “It’s for the best,” but she made him consider this by asking: “Best for who?”
EastEnders viewers saw Isaac try and shut her queries down: “I haven’t got time for this, I’m going back to my room.”
But the persistent patient didn’t give up: “Why don’t you sit down and listen? You might just learn something.
“My schizophrenia’s had me in and out of these places like a fiddler’s elbow – 30 years, back and forth.
“When I was your age, I had visitors too. I sent them all packing.

“One by one, they stopped coming. Now look. I’m an old woman, knitting for nobody,” Isaac joked.
Lola advised him: “If blondie comes back, you make sure she keeps coming back.”
Something she said seemed to resonate with Isaac, who later agreed to see Lola when she turned up.
He told her: “I’m sorry,” and Lola believed she should be the one apologising.
Isaac continued: “I pushed everyone away – I pushed you away.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know if I’m ready to walk out of here yet, but I know that I need you out there waiting for me when I do.
“I want to get better, and I want you to help.” With Isaac clearly looking to the future, and Lola delighted that he has changed his mind, could the couple take their relationship to the next level?
The two might decide it’s time to make it official, meaning Albert Square could soon have a reason to celebrate.
Could Isaac make the decision to propose in order to have something positive to aim for when he comes home?
Lola would probably be over the moon, as she loves Isaac and trusts him with her daughter too.
Will the two make the big decision on their future?
And with Sheree not trusting Lola, will she have something to say about the possible engagement?
EastEnders continues on Monday at 8pm on BBC One.
