Former Coronation Street and Emmerdale star Jonathan Wrather now sells juices from a van

ACTOR Jonathan Wrather has swapped soaps for smoothies as he delves into the world of healthy eating following a battle with "balance."

The ex Coronation Street star, 52, who trod the Cobbles as Joe Carter until 2003, has moved back to his native Cheshire to kick start new business Remedy On The Park.

Jonathan, who is equally known by ITV soap fans for his Emmerdale stint as evil Pierce Harris, has re-vamped a van and set up shop in a park in the lush surroundings of Alderley Edge.

With the likes of WAG Coleen Rooney and a host of reality stars as neighbours, he's hoping to lure customers in with selections of brightly-coloured cold press juice, coffee and nutritious, plant-based treats.

These include everything from a scrummy banana pecan loaf to polenta honey cakes, as well as carrot, cucumber and beetroot juices.

Opening up on his new career pathway on his brand's website, the star confessed how the acting lifestyle had negatively impacted his diet.

He said: "As an actor who has spent long periods away from home, touring or away on set, I know it’s not always easy to eat well and look after myself.

"I bought a juicer and began researching and reading religiously about nutrition and juicing.

"It was a timely and obvious way to help safeguard my health, and not least that of my children.

"Getting a healthy balance of the good stuff into my kids alongside the treats can be a bit of a battle!"

Jonathan continued: "It was somewhat of a revelation that nutritious can be delicious!

"Not only this but it made simple sense to counter the onset of so called, ‘lifestyle diseases’ that too many of us predictably suffer from."

Jonathan's duck egg blue smoothie van can't be missed by the bandstand at Alderley Edge Park at 8am every Thursday and Friday, and at 9am Saturday and Sunday.

SOAP HISTORY

Jonathan starred in Emmerdale between 2016 and 2017, as well as a cameo in 2020, with his character Pierce embroiled in a huge storyline after he raped his wife Rhona Goskrik.

The horrifying ordeal took place when Rhona (played by Zoe Henry)  tried to escape his clutches.

Jonathan has said that Pierce will pay the price for his crime and in July 2017 The Sun revealed that he would be leaving the soap when his character was sent down.

Prior to Emmerdale, Jonathan played Joe Carter in Coronation Street.

His character arrived on the cobbles after a stint in prison and left after he scammed the factory.

He has also appeared in Cracker, Fat Friends, Waterloo Road and Casualty to name a few.
