On Friday’s GB News, journalist James Marlow discussed the day’s headlines as he began a furious rant about the president. Appearing on the Great British Breakfast alongside Nana Akua and Tom Harwood, Marlow claimed Biden “ignored advice” surrounding Afghanistan’s Taliban takeover. He accused the US President of blaming the wrong people and not being prepared for the chaos in Kabul.
“Other reasons why we have criticised Joe Biden is because, for some reason, he wasn’t told – or if he was told – he ignored the advice, that the fighting season in Afghanistan is between March to the end of September,” Marlow stated.
“It’s a bit like the cricket season. So that means the time to pull out would of course have been after October.
“And then there wouldn’t have been any fighting and perhaps the fighting would have resumed.”
“And what Boris Johnson is referring to is the fact that our intelligence told us that perhaps Kabul was going to fall next year,” he continued.
“And he made another speech on Tuesday night…”
“Maybe he just forgot,” interjected Akua before Marlow replied: “Perhaps.”
He continued: “But there he said the same ridiculous things in his speech, and once again he blames everyone.
“He blames the Afghan army and to use his words, the ‘300,000-strong’ Afghan army.
“No Joe, there were not 300,000, there was between 50,000 and 100,000, this has been confirmed by several members of parliament of the former Afghan parliament – they’ve said this.”
He fumed: “Stop blaming the Afghan army because they weren’t paid. Their general moved off with some money, their leader fled the country – stop blaming them. Why are you blaming everyone?”
“Well, he’s messed up and hoping somebody else can take the can for this,” Akua answered.
Elsewhere in the segment, the trio discussed the recent Ofcom findings following the investigation into Piers Morgan’s controversial comments about Meghan Markle.
Akua described the finding as “fantastic”, arguing that Piers Morgan has a right to “have an opinion”.
“You need some light and shade, we can’t just have an agreed narrative that everyone goes along with and if you go off that narrative then suddenly you will be cancelled, called or name or something else like that,” she said.
“We have to be able to say honestly what we think, and with that interview there was no challenge.”
She continued: “Oprah did not challenge anything that Meghan Markle said and they have proved that there are at least 17 points that she made that have proved to be slightly untrue or wavering from the truth.
“In which case why is it that she shouldn’t be challenged for other things that she said?
“That should absolutely be challenged and I’m very, very glad of that ruling.”
GB News begins with the Great British Breakfast daily at 6am.
